Saving REAKTOR 6 Ensembles within a Host Sequencer (full version) (NI)
When using the REAKTOR plug-in in a host sequencer, the changes you make to the Ensemble by tweaking knobs and controls are saved with your host sequencer project. However, changes made to the REAKTOR Ensemble in Edit Mode (adding new Snapshots, changing the structure, properties, etc.) are not automatically saved in your host sequencer's project. You must save a local copy of your Ensemble file in addition to your host sequencer project. REAKTOR 6 offers two different methods for saving an edited Ensemble:
Saving edited Ensembles manually. This allows you to save your Ensemble independently from your host sequencer project.
Saving edited Ensembles automatically. When this method is used, a local copy is saved automatically every time you save your host sequencer project.
Saving Edited Ensembles Manually
The first method allows you to create a local copy of the Ensemble you have loaded in REAKTOR. This way you can save a state of the Ensemble independently from your host sequencer project. There are two separate ways to save your Ensemble. The first one applies to saving Factory Library Ensembles, the second one to saving User Ensembles.
Saving Factory Library Ensembles Manually
When manually saving a Factory Library Ensemble, REAKTOR always creates a local copy of the Ensemble file, since Factory Ensembles files are write-protected.
Load an Ensemble from the Factory Library. For example, load RAZOR from the Playersection of the Browser by double-clicking the Razor.rkply file.

Enter Edit Mode by pressing the EDIT button in the Toolbar.

Enter the Structure view by selecting the Razor Ensemble Breadcrumb in Navigation Bar.

Make a change to the Ensemble's Structure. For example, swap the left and the right output wires.

The Save Ensemble button in the Toolbar turns red to indicate that the changes you have made to the Ensemble will be lost if you don't save the Ensemble. Click on the red Save Ensemble button in the Toolbar.

If this is the first time you press the Save Ensemble button, a Save Ensemble As dialog appears. Choose the desired location and name for the local copy of your Ensemble and click Save.

A local copy of your Ensemble is saved and the Save Ensemble button is now greyed out, indicating the changes have been saved. The next time the Save Ensemble button turns red, you can simply click on it to save the changes to your previously created local copy. In this case, the local copy is saved without showing you the Save Ensemble As dialog again.

Saving Edited User Ensembles Manually
User Ensembles files are not write-protected and you have to save yourself a local copy of the User Ensemble in you want to avoid saving unwanted changes in the original User Ensemble file.
Load a User Ensemble from the REAKTOR Browser. For example, load the Ensemble 'Le Numero Zero' from the Files section of the Browser by double-clicking the Le_Numero_Zero.ens file.

Enter Edit Mode by pressing the EDIT button in the Toolbar.

Enter the Structure view by selecting the Le Numero Zero Breadcrumb in the Navigation Bar.

Make a change to the Ensemble. For example, swap the left and right output wires.

The Save Ensemble button in the Toolbar turns red to indicate that the changes you have made to the Ensemble will be lost if you don't save the Ensemble. If you press the red Save Ensemble button now, you will save the original User Ensemble file you have loaded in REAKTOR. If you wish to create a local copy of the User Ensemble in order to preserve the original User Ensemble file, open REAKTOR's internal menu, and select File > Save Ensemble As ...

In the Save Ensemble As dialog, choose the desired location and name for the local copy of your User Ensemble and click Save.

Now you have created a local copy of the User Ensemble. This Ensemble file will be loaded with your host sequencer project. If you operate changes to the User Ensemble, the Save Ensemble button will turn red. Press it to save your local copy of the User Ensemble.

Saving Edited Ensembles Automatically
Another method to save the changes you make to an Ensemble is to enable the Automatic Saving with Host function. Here you also create a local copy of the Ensemble, but the Ensemble is automatically saved when you save your host sequencer's project. This method can be more convenient, since you do not have to keep track of the save status of the Ensemble, as long as your host sequencer project is saved correctly.
Load a REAKTOR Ensemble from the Browser and enter Edit Mode, as described in the two examples above.
Click on the Enable Automatic Saving with Host button in the Toolbar.

In the Choose Location for Saving with Host dialog, choose the desired location and name for the local copy of your Ensemble and click Save.

The Enable Automatic Saving with Host button lights up, indicating that automatic saving of your Ensemble is now enabled. The local copy of the Ensemble is saved every time you save your host sequencer’s project, and will be automatically loaded the next time you open the project. You can disable automatic saving by clicking on the highlighted Enable Automatic Saving with Host button. This resets automatic saving, and you can click on the button again to enable automatic saving again. Keep in mind that you will have to create a new local copy of your Ensemble when reactivating the Automatic Saving with Host function.
Important note: In Automatic Saving Mode, the Save Ensemble button is highlighted in grey. This offers you the possibility of manually saving the current state of your edited Ensemble independently of saving your host project. This will also switch to manual saving mode and exit automatic saving, and you will have to reactivate Automatic Saving Mode again if you want your Ensemble to be saved automatically every time you save your host sequencer's session.
