Twisted Tools MICRO KITS is a new series of small and affordable drum kit sample packs, designed by cutting edge artists and sound designers. Each MICRO KITS release will feature 5 drum kits, formatted for Maschine, Battery, Kontakt, Ableton, Reaktor and EXS24. The series debuts with MICRO KITS 01 by SI BEGG. Expect frequent releases from other great artists in the months to come!

MICRO KITS 01 by SI BEGG features 5 meticulously crafted drum kits, perfectly suited for use in a wide variety of electronic genres. Brought to you by renowned sound designer and music producer, Simon Begg, the sample pack’s kits are formatted for a wide variety of samplers, providing instant inspiration for new tracks. The sounds have been created with with a signature Si Begg sound that is futuristic, playful and bound to no specific genre. The raw .wav files are included as well, which can be used with nearly any software.

1.2 About SI BEGG

Si Begg has a reputation in industry circles as the producer’s producer. A long-established veteran of electronic music, he continues to remain one step ahead, lauded by his peers for his cutting-edge credibility. Most recently charted by Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, his prolific and diverse career has seen him win plaudits from those in the upper echelons of the music business, among them: Arthur Baker, James Zabiela, Eddy Temple Morris, Mary Anne Hobbs, Modeselektor, Orbital, Sven Vath, DJ Hell, Radio One’s Kissy Sellout and the late great John Peel for whom he recorded three Peel Sessions.

As a recording artist he has appeared on cult labels such as Tresor, Ninjatune, Mute and Skint, whilst his live performances and DJ sets have seen him perform at nightclubs across the globe, including Tokyo’s Liquid Rooms, Paris’ Rex Club, Sydney’s Chinese Laundry and London’s Fabric.

MICRO KITS 02 by GLITCHMACHINES, features 5 meticulously crafted drum kits, perfectly suited for use in glitch hop, IDM, noise and bass music. The collection of kits is made up of aggressive analog and digitally processed sounds brought to you by renowned sound designer and music producer, Ivo Ivanov of Glitchmachines. The sample pack’s kits are formatted for a wide variety of samplers, providing instant inspiration for your music productions.

1.2 About GLITCHMACHINES

In addition to his work as a sound designer for Twisted Tools, Ivo Ivanov is well known for his custom circuit bent instruments, having designed for some of the biggest names in the business, including Trent Reznor, Derrick Carter, Kero, Otto Von Schirach, Men Without Hats, Richard Devine and Justin Meldal-Johnsen. Ivo is also currently Campus Director and head of the Audio Engineering program at SAE Institute of Technology in San Francisco.

MICRO KITS 03 by EVAC, features 5 meticulously crafted drum kits, perfectly suited for use in anything from techno to hip hop. The collection of kits is made up of clean and tight drum sounds brought to you by renowned sound designer and music producer, Jeremy Goldstein of EVAC.

The sample pack’s kits are formatted for a wide variety of samplers, providing instant inspiration for your music productions. Additionally, MK03 features a custom Reaktor map and presets for Twisted Tools S-Layer. By harnessing the power of S-Layer’s advanced randomization and sample layering engine, the possibilities for generating new content are endless. MK03 comes with 30 kit and generator presets to get you started.

1.2 About EVAC

Over the past 15 years Jeremy Goldstein (EVAC) has been immersed in nearly every corner of the audio industry. As a music house & production facility, his own imprint, Quadrant 5 Studios, has gained international recognition for it's scoring & sound design work for clients including Adidas, Diesel, Motorola, GM, & Time Warner. It's contributions to sound design have seen sample library development & patch design for companies Sony, Mutekki Media, Haptic Audio, A Hiss & A Roar, and Twisted Tools.

His personal work, under the EVAC moniker, has served as a primary focus for over a decade. With recent releases on Buried in Time & Cartesian Binary Recordings, as well as remixes for Funkstorung, Crunch, Rena Jones, & Logreybeam, EVAC continues to broaden scope. Unconfined by genre or process, EVAC represents an expansive palette of sound, capable of sonic landscapes that blur the lines between electronic and organic elements. Original music & additional productions have been released in association with: Colony Productions, Studio k7!, & Muti Music, MK12, PlayAirways, the RAI Arts Network (Italy), Ultra Music Festival, Universal Music Group, Vagrant Records, among others.

1.2. About TONEBUILDER and the kits

Tonebuilder is the creator of Driven Machine Drums and Driven Machine Drums STRIKES BACK!! He found himself after receiving multiple self-inflicted fork wounds in his thigh while simultaneously admiring the drum-buss compression on "Moves Like Jagger" and receiving an invitation to an "underground" event in Chicago's most posh club district. After a few hours of repeating "You are not your drum-machines" and "His name was Ron Hardy", he set out to on his own personal Operation Mayhem to covertly replace all your drum samples with exact replicas and/or sell the fat of phat producers back to themselves.

“All sounds captured by Black Lion Sparrow MKII A/D convertor. Mogami cables used exclusively through-out the entire process. The kits are intended to be as close to "turnkey" as possible. Just load them up, jam out. Couple of bumps, nudges, or boosts to taste, or just EQ the drum buss. And yes, I'm from Chicago. All 5 kits have an "authentic" Chicago sound, IMHO. By design.”

Formatted kits for Maschine, Battery, Kontakt, EXS24MK II, Ableton, Reaktor and Twisted Tools S-Layer

40 + Kit and Sound Generation Presets for Twisted Tools S-Layer (sold separately)

80 24bit/44.1khz WAV Samples

1.4. How do I set it up and where do I put things?

If you just plan on using the .WAV audio samples, you can put things wherever you like on your hard drive. Please note that all the samples are 24bit/44.1khz and your host software should be set accordingly.

Please see the Sampler Kits Instructions found in the Documentation folder for details on how to manage and install the content for the supported samplers.

1.5. Content Overview

00_Samples : The sample content is conveniently organized into sub folders for each kit.

Please note, that you will also find Reaktor sampler map files in the sample content folders, which is a requirement for Reaktor in order to save properly referenced maps. Please do not move these if you plan on using them.

01_Kits: All the preset sampler instrument kits to use with supported 3rd party samplers.
